Environmental Protection Comes First

At Algenmann, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. The Office for Environment and Energy requires strict guidelines when it comes to cleaning façades with chemicals or cleaning agents:

Surface type: mineral/stone
Required installation:
gutter system or collection basin for wastewater, connected to a separator or external cleaning/disposal system

For us, these measures are not just a regulation – they are an essential part of our concept. Protecting the environment is our top priority.

Why Not Just “Water Cleaning”?

Some competitors try to confuse customers by promoting the use of demineralized water (also known as DI or purified water). This method is commonly used in window cleaning because it prevents limescale spots on glass.

While DI water can remove mineral and soluble dirt, it has no added effect on algae and fungi compared to regular water.

The Truth About “Bacteria-Based Protection”

Some companies claim to use bacterial protection against algae and fungi. According to Dr. Daniel Jaspers, PhD in Chemistry (Hermes), this approach is ineffective. The idea of bacteria that dissolve algae and fungi may sound appealing, but in reality, it is nothing more than science fiction – at least when it comes to façades.

Long-Term Protection with the Right Method

The only accurate statement from such providers is that they avoid chemicals. In practice, this means they perform standard high-pressure cleaning with water. However, this method only removes algae and fungi superficially and offers no lasting protection.

At Algenmann, we go further:

Environmentally compliant cleaning

Effective removal of algae and fungi

Guaranteed long-term façade protection
